MED PCS - Port Community System, started in 2013 and completed in 2015, led by Tarragona Port Authority in partnership with RAM, Cartagena Port Authority, Levante and Igoumenitsa, the University of Napoli Federico II and the University of the Aegean.
The project consists in the implementation of the Port Community Systems in the Mediterranean ports, the development of a platform enabling effective communication between the different ports involved, therefore facilitating the exchange of information between the industry players. No matter how efficient a port can be, its competitiveness depends also on the efficiency of all the logistics chain operators and their ability to communicate with one another.
In this perspective, the project has been developed in three directions:
- a pilot action has been implemented to align the different Port Community Systems of the ports involved in the project
- an independent communication system, accessible by all the operators, has been developed to enable the communication between the different PCSs
- online and e-learning training actions have been implemented to train the different subjects interested in using the systems implemented through the project pilot actions.
